FAQ
Why is anti better than other natural bug sprays?
It’s safe. All ingredients are non-phototoxic which means they don’t react with sunlight which can make skin vulnerable to UV damage from the sun. (Many common natural bug spray ingredients are surprisingly phototoxic.)
It’s long-lasting. It’s anti-aging, lightweight and fast drying.
anti is made in small batches. Our plant ingredients come from the best possible sources, indigenous to their origin, from Ghana to South America, with the plants native to New York State distilled here at our facility in Germantown, NY.
How long does it last?
Pretty long. 4 hours on average and can be much longer. We personally use it head to toe every morning, as an all-over skin serum, and it lasts all day. [Tip: Apply thoroughly, like you would a moisturizer or sunscreen]. We recommend reapplying after swimming, showering, or lots of sweating.
How does it work?
The plant compounds in anti do more than repel bugs by scent alone. We’ve formulated anti using emerging research on pheromone receptors of insects, skin temperature and the bio-electricity of the human body. We use lab chromatography data to profile all compounds to validate safety and efficacy, and test extensively in the field under extreme and real-life conditions.
Is it non-toxic?
All ingredients are non-toxic, and many are better than organic—they are wildcrafted. We ensure all ingredients are pesticide free, either wild-cultivated on our land and distilled on site or from trusted growers and suppliers. By sourcing ingredients with indigenous origins we are able to aggregate specific phytocompounds that can only be produced by the ideal growing conditions of the plants’ native land. This is integral to the efficacy and quality of our end product.
We also screen for any negative naturally occurring chemical alterations from commixing, oxidation or storage conditions (like ethyl ester ethanol/alcohol, mycotoxins, and photo-toxic natural peroxides, furanocoumarins and photosensitivity-causing retinols).
Can I use it on my face?
Use on face, lips, eyelids, hair. It can be used as a modifier and primer for cosmetics. Apply it over your sunscreen, and under / or over make-up. Works well in combination with virtually all other products—water, lipid or alcohol based.
Why does the serum look separated in my bottle?
Separation is natural, normal, intentional. Give it a light shake before using.
We don’t use the harsh emulsifiers (alcohols or solvents) commercially used to prevent separation, because they irritate and dry out skin.
When it settles the layers are pretty cool. You can see a crystalline effect from the light refraction created by the Tonka Bean.
What are those things floating around in the bottle?
Natural sediments from Sumac and Tonka Bean. It’s good stuff!
